When Should a Pre-Assessment Be Administered?

A pre-assessment within the TRT should ideally be administered just before the initiation of Pre-ETS. This timing allows for an initial evaluation of a student's skills, strengths, and areas needing improvement before the delivery of any specific services. Providing the pre-assessment more than 72 hours before starting services or after services have already begun is likely to reduce accuracy.

Administering the pre-assessment right before the commencement of services provides a baseline measurement, allowing educators and service providers to

  • Identify Starting Points: Understand the student's current abilities, skills, and knowledge in relation to the core Pre-ETS services.
  • Tailor Services: Customize and target the delivery of services to meet the specific needs highlighted in the assessment.
  • Set Goals: Establish clear and realistic goals for the student based on their initial assessment, allowing for effective monitoring and progress tracking.
