Unlike traditional services where we can measure success by employment at closure, with Pre-ETS, we may not see the real impact of the services provided for a number of years. Currently, all of the time and effort providers spend on designing services and working with students can’t be systematically evaluated to be able to know if they are working, or how well. We are left to rely on feedback from individual students to know that we are doing a good job.
A pre- and post-test allows for a systematic assessment of student gains in key areas as identified under WIOA standards. You can use this information to understand where a student is when they begin services, whether they gained knowledge or skills during services, and the outcomes of your services across clients.
